Měděnec is a beautiful village, which is situated on the
range of west part of Krušné Mountains. First mention about this settlement
dates back to 1449 and were linked with copper and silver ore mining. The
biggest boom came in 16. century owing to development of mining.
Dominant point of the township is an church in a centre of it. Close to Měděnec lies a hill called Mědník with characteristic chapel. At this point there traditionally take place mining festivals and funfairs.
In winter time the visitors are enthralled by several tows near the village. In
summer this area is cut out for cycling.
About 400 m in the south of township there can be found saxicolous formation
“Sfingy” (protected natural formation). The highest mountain of this promontory
is Klínovec (4079 ft above sea level) is 5,6 miles away.
